With the continued dominance of Nicki Minaj and the fast come-up many others including Cardi B, female rappers are being appreciated more than ever. This article will compile some of the female artists and rappers that are rising to fame but still deserve more attention for their dedication and love for their craft.

Megan Thee Stallion, yes with two e’s, released a mixtape named Tina Snow back in 2018 that received a lot of attention for the song “Big Ole Freak.” Similarly to artists such as Nicki Minaj, Megan can ride a beat with ease. She has also become popular on Twitter for her funny videos that she posts. Megan is set to release a full-length album in 2019 and it is sure to impress many.

Doja Cat, popular for her song named “Moo,” released a full-length R&B album back in 2018 and features relaxing songs such as “Go To Town,” which gives off the same mood as “Moo.” She has also collaborated with a female rapper named Rico Nasty on a song called “Tia Tamera” which was released a couple of weeks ago. This song has a great beat and both Doja and Rico bring out their full potential for the song. Doja Cat’s beautiful raspy singing voice mixed with Rico Nasty’s flow creates a song sure to impress.

On the topic of of Rico Nasty, she also released an album in 2018 named Nasty. Rico Nasty is more on the trap side of Rap, where she easily raps over bass-crazed beats. Her song named “Oreo” clearly shows her potential for the future in trap music.

Asian Doll is also becoming a strong force in the Rap genre. With features from Gucci Mane, Lil Yachty and YBN Nahmir on her her album named So Icy Princess show her potential as a huge force in the rap genre. Songs to check out from the album include “1017,” “Southside,” “Talk” and “Kit Kat.” She was also featured on the remix to Bhad Bhabie’s “Hi Bich,” which is her most popular song to date. She has been releasing albums since 2015, but she is reaching new height ever signing to Gucci Mane’s record label called 1017 Records.

A female rap group called City Girls have become popular for their songs “Act Up” and “Twerk” featuring Cardi B on their album called Girl Code. Their collaboration with Cardi B shows how female rap unity is not only stronger than ever but also can help many new artists shoot up to new levels of fame.

Another female rapper and pop star rising to stardom is Lizzo. She released the promotional singles for her next album called Cuz I Love You including a song collaboration with Missy Elliot. Her emotional and empowering songs are sure to help listeners through their own struggles with their love life and body image. Her album is sure to impress because of the catchy beats and impressive lyrics from her promotional songs “Tempo” and “Juice.”

While this isn’t an entire list of all female rappers and other artists that are up-and-coming, it gives a great example to the dedication and skills that these women are putting into their craft. In male-dominated genres such as Hip-Hop and Rap, it is refreshing and necessary to see more females break into stardom rather than being pushed down. There are high hopes for female rappers and other artists in 2019 to finally get the recognition that they truly deserve.
